🌱 Contains naturally occurring antioxidants
The Munich pear (Siraitia grosvenorii), also known as Luo Han Guo, originates from the tropical regions of southern China, where it has been cultivated for centuries. The fruit is characterised by an intense natural sweetness and is traditionally used to make aromatic tea. Thanks to their naturally sweet flavour, they are a popular alternative to conventional sugar.
The fruits contain naturally occurring antioxidants, including mogrosides, lycopene and beta-carotene. They are calorie-free, making them suitable for people who want to limit their sugar intake or are looking for a natural sweetener for drinks and meals.
Recommended use: Make tea from the dried fruit, or use it as a natural sweetener in cooking and baking.
Tea preparation:
- Serves 1: Pour 1.5 litres of hot water over half the dried fruit and leave to steep for about 15 minutes. If the drink is too sweet, dilute it with water.
- For 2 or more people: Pour 3 litres of hot water over one whole fruit and leave it to steep. You can then boil the tea down to make a thick, sweet syrup suitable as a natural sweetener.
