Product Description: Naturland Large Swedish Drops + Vitamin C is a traditional preparation containing Swedish bitters tincture and vitamin C. It is a medicinal preparation that is not classified as a medicine; its effects are based on evidence from folk medicine and specialist literature.
The ingredients of Swedish bitters stimulate the appetite, aid digestion and bile secretion, and have anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. Vitamin C helps to meet the increased need for vitamin C during various illnesses and convalescence, as well as during periods of spring fatigue or when there is an increased tendency to bleed.
When it can be used: For loss of appetite, bloating, a feeling of fullness, sluggish bowel movements and other digestive problems of various aetiologies, during convalescence following infectious or other protracted illnesses, and in cases of an increased tendency to bleed, for example, in cases of gum inflammation or recession.
Active ingredients per 1 ml: Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) – 20 mg; Swedish bitters tincture (1:5.1) – 47 mg.
Ingredients of Swedish bitters: The tincture is prepared from a total of 18.50 g of herbal ingredients per 100 ml in the following proportions: root of carline thistle (Carlina acaulis L.) 2.00; manna ash (Fraxinus ornus L.) 2.00; myrrh (Commiphora molmol Engler) 2.00; zedoary rhizome (Curcuma zedoaria) 2.00; angelica root (Angelica archangelica L.) 2.00; Theriac sine opio 2.00; yellow gentian root 1.00; chamomile flower 0.50; peppermint leaf 0.50; liquorice root 0.50; nutmeg 0.50; three-leaved plantain leaves 0.50; agrimony herb 0.20; ginger rhizome 0.20; star anise fruit 0.10; galangal root 0.10; lesser celandine herb 0.10; blessed thistle herb 0.10; bitter orange peel 0.06; cloves 0.04; wild marigold flower heads 0.04; cubeb fruit 0.04; rosemary leaves 0.02.
Theriak sine opio contains: Angelica root, flowering basil leaves, Ceylon cinnamon bark, valerian root, the rhizome of the clustered bugle, the rhizome of zedoary, marjoram leaves and flowers, cardamom, myrrh.
Excipients: 96 % ethanol, purified water, caramel (E150).
Alcohol content: The product contains 300 mg/ml of alcohol, i.e. approximately 30 % m/V. A single dose contains approximately 1,500 mg of ethanol, which is equivalent to approximately 40 ml of beer or 17 ml of wine.
Recommended dosage: Take 1 teaspoon of the product 2–3 times a day, always diluted. One dose (1 teaspoon) contains approximately 100 mg of vitamin C.
Method of use: Take diluted with water or unsweetened cold tea. To stimulate the appetite, take approximately 30 minutes before a main meal; to aid digestion, take during or immediately after a meal; and during convalescence or if you are prone to bleeding after main meals.
Length of use: A course of treatment may last for a maximum of 3 months. A break of at least 1 month must be observed between two courses of treatment.
When this medicine must not be taken: In cases of known hypersensitivity or allergy to any of the ingredients, including plants of the Asteraceae family. In the event of an acute stomach or duodenal ulcer, bile duct obstruction or gallstones, use should be carefully considered and a doctor should be consulted.
Children and adolescents: Due to a lack of safety data, use is not recommended for people under the age of 18.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding: Use during pregnancy and whilst breastfeeding is not recommended. If you are planning to become pregnant, consult your doctor or pharmacist before use.
Use with other medicines: The alcohol contained in this product may affect the action of certain medicines. If you are taking other medicines at the same time, consult your doctor or pharmacist. Particular caution should be exercised with products containing iron, copper and selenium, desferoxamine, mexiletine, coumarin and indandione anticoagulants, and salicylates. High doses of vitamin C may affect the results of certain laboratory tests.
Possible side effects: Individual hypersensitivity reactions may occur, such as hives, skin redness or swelling. If you experience any side effects, stop taking the product and consult your doctor or pharmacist.
Appearance: A clear, reddish-brown alcoholic solution with an aromatic scent and a taste that is initially sour and then bitter.
Storage: Store at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C, protect from light and keep out of the reach of children. Use within 6 months of opening. Do not use after the expiry date stated on the packaging.
