Clearspring Organic Barley Malt Syrup It is a natural sweetener with a rich, delicate flavour and a lower sweetness than sugar, honey or maple syrup. As a result, it adds a pleasant sweetness to food and drink without overpowering their natural flavour.
Barley malt syrup has a deep, rich, subtly molasses-like flavour and a thick, sticky consistency. It is suitable for sweetening hot drinks and baked goods, as a topping for pancakes and desserts, and also as a binding agent when making muesli bars or popcorn treats.
When baking, if you are using malt syrup instead of sugar, add it to the wet ingredients in the recipe. It is advisable to adjust the quantities of the other ingredients as necessary to ensure the batter is not too runny.
