St. John's wort is an increasingly well-known and very valuable medicinal plant. It is used for nervousness and depression. Furthermore, it has a choleretic, antispasmodic (relieving cramps), diuretic effect and helps to dissolve phlegm. It improves digestion and has effects on reducing stomach acidity.
Composition: St. John's Wort - herb (Hyperici herba)
Preparation: 1 level tablespoon (3g) of the tea mixture, pour over 2.5 dl of boiling water, steep for 15 minutes and strain. Do not use a metal sieve.
Dosage: 1 cup per day for 2 weeks, then take a 4-week break.
Contraindications: Not suitable for persons under 18 years of age, during pregnancy, and for people with gallstones. May reduce the effectiveness of hormonal contraception and cause photosensitivity (sensitivity to light). Consult your doctor before use if you are taking strong blood thinners, heart medication, sedatives, or antidepressants. Not recommended for persons who regularly take medication or other herbal preparations.
