Psyllium – Indian psyllium husks are a natural source soluble fibre, often referred to as the „scourge of the digestive system“. They are characterised by very high in fibre, making them widely used in healthy nutrition.

Composition: Psyllium husks.

The plant originates from the region of Western Asia and its effects have been known for thousands of years in traditional Indian and Chinese medicine. Psyllium is rich in soluble fibre, which binds water in the digestive tract, increases its volume and supports regular bowel movement.

Nutritional values per 100g: Energy 774 kJ / 193 kcal, fats 0,5 g, of which saturates 0,1 g, carbohydrates 1.4g, of which sugars 0,3 g, fibre 87.4 g, proteins 1,9 g, salt 0,1 g.

Psyllium helps prevent constipation, supports healthy gut flora and acts as a Prebiotic, which nourishes beneficial gut bacteria. It can contribute to lowering cholesterol levels, helps to stabilise blood sugar levels and promotes feeling of fullness, which is advantageous for weight management.

Thanks to its water-binding ability, it is also suitable as Thickener and texture enhancer in the kitchen, for example in baked goods, creams, fillings or vegetable and fruit mixtures.

Application: It can be taken on its own mixed with water or added to food. The recommended dose is approximately 1–3 teaspoons a day.
